40 Hours Description
This 40-hour course is designed to provide the knowledge and expertise
needed for responding to releases of hazardous materials above and beyond
the level of defensive containment. Students will be instructed in methods
and practices of identification of hazards and procedures for taking aggressive
action to control the hazards by stopping the release and cleaning up
the material. Personal Protective Equipment: Each student will need the following for the Dressout Exercises on the
final day:
- Level A Suit (preferred), OR
- Level B Suit (minimum)
- SCBA with FULL CYLINDER
- Evidence of completion of SCBA Training & Mask Fit Tests

- Proper levels of personal protection
- Using the standard Chlorine Emergency Kits (A, B & C Kits)
NOTE: Chlorine Emergency Kits will be provided by the hosting organization. Prerequisites
Training shall be based on the duties and functions to be performed by
each responder in an emergency response organization. The skill and knowledge
levels required for all responders shall be conveyed to them through training
before they are permitted to take part in actual emergency operations
on an incident. Employees who participate, or are expected to participate,
in emergency response, shall be given training in accordance with 29CFR-
1910.120(q)(6)(iii) [CalOSHA is 8CCR§5192(q)(6)(C)].
