Description

The objective of this course is to provide general knowledge of basic fire prevention and fire-fighting fundamentals.

Topics

  1. A fire consists of three elements: Fuel, Heat, and Oxygen. The student will learn that in order to extinguish a fire one of these elements must be eliminated, or dissolved by chemical reaction.
  2. There are four classes of fires (A, B, C, & D), and each type of fire requires an appropriate fire suppression agent. The student will learn the different fire suppression agents and the types of fires they extinguish.
  3. There are two types of hand-held fire extinguisher: Stored Pressure and Cartridge Operated. At the conclusion of this course the student will have a better understanding of the extinguishing agents and components.
